6 POP Display Types for Your Brand

POP displays are a highly effective marketing and advertising strategy when providing in-store visibility for your brand and its products.

But all POP displays aren’t created equal. So how do you know which POP display best meets your brand’s needs and goals?

Take a look at these six popular POP display types and their unique benefits to help you weigh the options.

1. Floor Displays

Floor displays are strategically stocked freestanding structures placed in central locations in retail stores, as well as at conferences, trade shows, and other events. Their aim? Not just to hold items but to catch buyers’ attention, inform and educate them about your brand and products, and compel them to purchase. Like all displays, these point-of-purchase displays also raise awareness and build familiarity.

Depending on your goals, the products, and the arrangements available with locations, floor displays can be permanent or semi-permanent. When you customize a floor display, you can select its exact size, shape, and appearance across everything from materials to graphics.

Floor displays are suitable for many uses, including to increase visibility in stores, for seasonal items, and to minimize labor associated with storing and stocking products.

2. Pallet Displays

A pallet display combines multiple essential functions. In addition to holding, displaying, and marketing items, pallet displays also serve as the shipping packaging for their products.

Pallet displays are designed to showcase one or more products and are available in several configurations, including side stack, quarter pallet, half pallet, and full pallet displays. Larger pallet displays are often used in club stores, while smaller pallet displays are appropriate for mass merchants.

Shipped pre-stocked directly to the retailer and usually made from lightweight, versatile, durable, and sustainable corrugate, pallet displays are ideal for maximizing sales volume and minimizing time and labor.

3. Display Trains

POP displays aren’t just customizable; they’re also creatively configurable. This means brands can combine multiple pallet displays into one cohesive display.

Because of their uniqueness, display trains are an incredibly effective tactic for attracting customers. They can also incorporate multiple products and even multiple vendors.

4. Endcap Displays

While floor and pallet displays can be situated in various locations, endcap displays are designed to be placed at the end of aisles. This is prime territory for getting noticed by shoppers. In fact, endcap displays are at the top of the list when it comes to product sell-through rates.

Whether you’re looking to introduce a new product, boost brand recognition, combine multiple products into a high-impact display, advertise featured or seasonal products, or drive impulse purchases, endcap displays can be an invaluable marketing strategy.

5. Power Wing Displays

Also known as “sidekick displays” and “gravity feed displays,” power wing displays aren’t freestanding like many other POP types. Instead, they attach to store shelving or the sides of endcaps via clips, wire backing, or adhesive. They can also be converted into standing displays, making them a flexible choice for brands with changing needs, as well as for testing sell-through rates.

Power wing displays are optimal in retail environments where square footage is limited. Even when they’re slight in profile, they can have a powerful effect, rivaling other inline display types to capture shoppers' attention.

6. Club Skirts

Also called “pallet skirts,” club skirts deliver on their name. A corrugated covering for stocked pallets in club stores, pallet skirts are one part display and one part billboard. With plenty of surface area for text, graphics, and other visual forms of advertising, club skirts are also associated with high sell-through rates.

While there’s no right or wrong when choosing a display type, certain elements make for a good retail display. By selecting the optimal type of POP display and incorporating these elements, you can best leverage their many benefits across all stages of the buyer’s journey.
